Listen, I know guns are a touchy subject here. There are a lot of people out there who firmly believe that they have a RIGHT to their guns and, as the constitution currently stands, they are absolutely, 100% correct. (I mean, sure, you might [rightly] question our priorities, what with health care being a privilege, and gun ownership being a RIGHT, but legally, that's were we are at).
But, can't we still ask ourselves, "Should gun ownership really be a right?"
Really? Do we really want everyone (and I do mean everyone, because RIGHTS aren't just for the the few that prove their worth) who wants a gun in this country to have one? My honest gut response as someone who has grown up around and used guns my whole life is Abso-fucking-loutely NOT! I do not want every idiot in this country to be able to own and use a deadly weapon. Because that's what guns are. They are deadly weapons. And while I don't have any problem with their existence, I do want their use limited to only those who have proven themselves RESPONSIBLE and SANE.
But then they cease being a "RIGHT". Then guns become a "privilege", a privilege that not everyone will be able to earn, for good reason(s).
Frankly, I think that that would be the best thing that could happen for us, both as a gun owner and as an American.
But, hey. This is America. You don't have to agree with me. You could just try to kick me out of the country. Your call.
