I responded quickly, saying I had plans on stopping by but that I wouldn't be able to stay for the duration due to work constraints (something I feel certain I had mentioned in one of our previous telephone conversations).
Her email back, surprising quickly: "Oh Boy!"
I smell a vaguely passive aggressive undertone to her words. *laughs* To be fair, I did go back and re-read the email she sent earlier in the week first mentioning the party and she had clearly typed "RSVP with me ASAP" at the bottom. But no, seeing as how the first half of her email put it quite clearly that nothing short of my own death would justify my missing this little brouhaha, I never bothered.
Still, I can’t help but laugh. Oh, I’m sure I’ll be asked at least once tomorrow if I ever actually bother reading the emails she sends me (truthful answer: rarely) and I shall have to have some appropriately soothing response at hand.
Now, if only I could think of what that should be…
